Radium Engineering Fuel Vent Charcoal Canister, Universal - 20-1828-00
OVERVIEW
The Radium Engineering fuel vent charcoal canister purifies odors that emit from the fuel tank vent system. It is designed for both EFI and carbureted fuel systems.
TESTING
- To test for a restrictive pressure drop through the charcoal canister, a quick flow Radium Engineering dry break dump can was used. Results showed a negligible difference between a charcoal canister installed or not installed on the fuel vent.
- Fuel vapor measurements were taken with a combustible gas detector which detects 50 ppm to 10,000 ppm.
- All probe testing was measured inside the atmospheric exit of the fuel tank vent
- Without the charcoal canister installed, the gas detector maxed out over 10,000 ppm of fuel vapor.
- With the charcoal canister installed, the gas detector did not measure any fuel vapor (<50 ppm).
20-1828-00 FUEL VENT CHARCOAL CANISTER, UNIVERSAL
This universal kit includes two 16AN ORB male to 10AN ORB female couplers. For classic cars, most fuel tanks use either 1/4" (6mm), 5/16" (8mm), or a 3/8" (10mm) vent line.
SPECS & FEATURES
The fuel vent charcoal canisters are CNC machined from 6061 aluminum. They are type-II anodized for corrosion resistance.
The preassembled vibratory-packed activated carbon resides inside a 150 micron strainer and an anodized aluminum baffle. This prevents any loose carbon media debris from escaping the canister.
For high flow fuel venting, 16AN ORB (1-5/16"-12) female ports are featured on all fuel vent charcoal canister kits. These ports can be used interchangeably as the inlet or outlet.
To drain any unwanted fuel from the canister, two 4AN ORB (7/16"-20) female ports are machined at the bottom with preinstalled plugs. Depending on mounting orientation, one of these ports can be used if a Petcock Drain Kit is installed.
DIMENSIONS
The dimensions shown below are the same for all fuel vent charcoal canisters.

INSTALLATION NOTES
Designed to be used in conjunction with Radium Engineering Fuel Cell Vent Kits.
NOTES:
1. A section of vent hose, upstream of the air filter, must be positioned higher than the fuel filler.
2. It is recommended to mount the air filter at the rear of the vehicle, away from the exhaust system.
3. With the 3/4" barb fitting in the 20-1828-12 kit, the air filter can be installed directly to the fuel vent charcoal canister.
